This is Sarah's account of a year of swimming in Orkney seas throughout 2019. But it is so much more than a mere swimming diary. As Sarah says "January 2019, the nightmare of all years. It was sink or swim. I chose to swim". She took her first sea swim in January last year after her world was shattered by the death of a close friend, and her mother's dementia diagnosis, both within the space of two weeks. In search of solace from her living grief, she turned to her newfound hobby of wild swimming. Having lived on Orkney for 11 years, this was her first foray into sea swimming and she is now well and truly addicted!
It's a heartfelt, honest, sad, uplifting and reflective insight into Sarah's personal swimming journey, and I consumed it in two days over a recent wet weekend! (Clare)
